You have 100 credits. Air, food, and fuel cost 60. You can spend some of the remaining 40 on optional cabin comforts. Everything you don't spend stays available.
Choose your optional spending
This is practice, not a judgment about spending. In this scenario essentials are fully covered and optional purchases cannot be refunded. Real households may have much less flexibility.
A coolant pump needs repair.
The shuttle is safely docked, but it cannot depart until the pump is fixed. The repair costs 30 credits. Your crew's essentials are already covered.
All costs and loan terms here are invented for this exercise. There are no other charges or income in the scenario.

A reserve gives you options when something unexpected happens. Using it for an emergency is its purpose; rebuilding it can be a later goal. If saving is difficult, that is a constraint to plan around, not a personal failure.
